After being given the job of circus veterinarian, August introduced me to Kinko, my new roommate. He is a dumpy man, who is obviously annoyed that he must now share his car with me. I also see his dog, which is apparently part of his act. When August has had about enough of Kinko's negative attitude towards my presence, he says...
"I am the equestrian director and superintendent of animals, and it is by the grace of my generosity that your car isn't filled with roustabouts. Of course, i can always change that. Besides, this gentleman is the show's new veterinarian - from Cornell no less - which puts him a good deal higher than you in my estimation. Perhaps you'd like to consider offering him the cot."
Kinko was astounded by this, and watches as August exits the car and bids me a goodnight. I don't hear a word from him all night, and I am forced to sleep on a scratchy wet blanket infested with flees.
