The Liberty Horse
August led me to the car in which the horses were housed, so I could check on one of the star horses - the Liberty Horse. When we arrived at the car i laid my eyes upon the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, but to my disdain, I discovered that she was August's wife Marlena. Marlena was the star of the horse show - the post popular show on the circus, and her star horse had been acting 'off' as she had put it. As I checked the horse, I had come to the grim conclusion that it's injuries were irriversible and that he must be put down.
Kinko
After being given the job of circus veterinarian, August introduced me to Kinko, my new roommate. He is a dumpy man, who is obviously annoyed that he must now share his car with me. I also see his dog, which is apparently part of his act. When August has had about enough of Kinko's negative attitude towards my presence, he says...
"I am the equestrian director and superintendent of animals, and it is by the grace of my generosity that your car isn't filled with roustabouts. Of course, i can always change that. Besides, this gentleman is the show's new veterinarian - from Cornell no less - which puts him a good deal higher than you in my estimation. Perhaps you'd like to consider offering him the cot."Kinko was astounded by this, and watches as August exits the car and bids me a goodnight. I don't hear a word from him all night, and I am forced to sleep on a scratchy wet blanket infested with flees.
The Circus Verterinarian
After another day on the circus I told Camel that I had been going to college to become a veterinarian. Camel told me that he had a brilliant plan, for the circus had been looking for veterinarian to tend to the animals. Camel told me that he would bring me to Uncle Al's car and say that he found him on the train, and then I would explain that I was looking for work and that I could be his veterinarian. After meeting Uncle Al, he was skeptical about allowing me to work, until I informed him that I had gone to college to study veterinary sciences. A man named August, who is the head of the animals on the circus, told Uncle Al that I would be valuable to the show - and like that I was in.
The Circus
I awoke the next morning to the breaks screeching. Camel took me to see a man named Crazy Joe, who he said could give me some type of job on the circus. After Camel had spoken to Crazy Joe, I had been given the job of mucking out some of the animals cars. Afterwards, I went to the cookhouse and had my first meal in days, after getting some trouble from the staff as to how I was related to the show. Afterwards, Camel directs me to his friend named Cecil, who gives me another job. I am to watch outside of a tent during one of the shows to make sure no one who didn't pay tries to look in and see. I soon realize that she show I must look after is of a woman stripping for the male audience. I am caught off gaurd, for this was the first time I had ever seen a woman unclothed. Luckily, there were no happenings during the show that required my intervention, for I found it hard to mantin my composure during such a show.
R.I.P. Mr. & Mrs. Jankowski
Today I learned of the death of my parents. I also learned that they died with not a penny to either of their names, and that I'm left with none of their possessions. I have to leave school because there is no way for me to pay for the rest of my schooling. I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
